═══ 1. Set Display Name ═══ Use Screen page 2 of System - Settings to select the display type to be associated with the SVGA adapter installed in the system. Note: Be sure to select the correct display type to avoid problems with displaying the OS/2 Desktop when you restart the system. For more information about a wrong display type choice, select "Correcting display type choices" in the "Related Information" section below. For a detailed explanation of each field, select from the list below: o Display name o View Current Configuration o Undo Related Information: o Correcting display type choices ═══ Display Name ═══ Use this field to select the type of display from the list of available display types. Each field contains the model name and manufacturer name. The list is sorted alphabetically by the adapter manufacturer names. The current display configuration is highlighted. Use the View Current Configuration button to obtain the more detailed information on the capabilities of the current display. If you cannot find your display in the list, consult the data sheet specification for your display and find a compatible display type in the list. A compatible display type is one which has the same or lower vertical refresh scan rate in all resolutions as your display has. Note: Selecting an incompatible display may result in damage to your display. ═══ View Current Configuration ═══ Use this button to obtain a more detailed description of the current display capabilities. The list includes supported resolutions and the maximum vertical and horizontal scan rate as specified in the data sheet supplied by the display manufacturer. ═══ Correcting Display Type Choices ═══ If you select an incorrect display type for the display that is attached to your video adapter, do the following to undo the display type selection and restore the desktop to its normal appearance: 1. Start an OS/2 or DOS session by starting the system from drive A. 2. Change the directory to the \OS2 subdirectory located on the drive where OS/2 is started. 3. Delete the file named VIDEO.CFG. 4. After you have deleted this file, restart the system. 5. Use Screen - page 2 of the System - settings to select the correct display type. If your display is still out of sync, do the following: 1. Boot DOS or Windows**, and start a DOS session. 2. Run a display configuration utility supplied by your video adapter manufacturer. 3. Select an appropriate monitor according to the instructions given in the display utility. 4. Execute SVGA on from your command prompt. The SVGA utility resides in the \OS2 subdirectory on the drive where OS/2 is started. 5. Restart the system.
